The Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Hon. Albert Chalamila has expressed disgust at the fraudulent behavior of some local government chairmen by engaging in fraudulent activities.
As a result, he has ordered the Kigamboni District Police Commander to arrest and detain at the police station the Chairman of Lingatu Local Government in Kisarawe Two Ward in Kigamboni District, Mr. Cosmas Kurwa after he determined that he had been the source of land disputes by selling people’s plots, which he said was unacceptable.
Speaking on June 11 in Kigamboni District in Dar es Salaam when he visited an area with a land dispute with the aim of listening to and resolving a land dispute in Kisarawe Two Ward in the district, the Regional Commissioner said the chairman had been selling plots owned by people without their consent, which later led to land disputes.
“I hereby order you to arrest the chairman and keep him in custody for one day so that he can help resolve the conflicts of the youth who raised complaints at the meeting about the plots”, said Mr. Chalamila.
Initially discussing the underlying conflict that led him to the Kisarawe two area involving more than 15 citizens and the DAWASA Government Institution, it was explained that it started with two elders, Mzee Mselem and Mzee Mbaruku, who are now deceased before the emergence of conflicts involving the Chairman, the Regional Commissioner, Mr. Albert Chalamila, has given three weeks to collect details of the conflict and evidence.
When asked to explain the conflicts, which have been linked to him before being taken by the police force on the instructions of the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, the Chairman of the Lingatu Street Government, Kisarawe two ward in Kigamboni district, Mr. Cosmas Kurwa, has given contradictory explanations, which has led the Regional Commissioner to take difficult decisions.
