TRA now provides education to the taxpayer door to door

Businessmen in Kwembe and Ubungo Kibangu in the Kinondoni Tax Region have praised the exercise of visiting taxpayers door to door to educate them, listen to them and get their opinions about the services provided by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) which started on May 11, 2026.

Speaking at different times, the businessmen said that TRA’s action to come to business areas and listen to them is a good step to make them pay taxes voluntarily and follow all payment procedures.

Speaking after being visited by a TRA official, Nicas Tungu from Kwembe said TRA visiting traders is a good thing and inspecting businesses, listening to challenges, complaints and following them up.

And the businessman, Mr. Gervas Mrisho enjoyed the mobile office and educated them about various taxes and presented taxpayers with their concerns.

“I didn’t expect TRA to come to us while Kwembe visited us and talked to us. This is what is required so that citizens understand tax issues and pay taxes voluntarily”, said Mr. Mrisho

Mrs. Maria Katunduru, a clothing merchant from Ubungo Kibangu, said she was grateful to get tax education about the documents needed to do business.

“I didn’t know if I had to pay tax after I paid for the license. Now I will follow up to get the TIN of the business to get an estimate and pay the tax”, said Mrs. Maria.

In another stage, Mr. Masanja Lugwisha A businessman from Lesotech Company Ubungo Kibangu has praised the services provided by TRA on the internet saying that these days things are easy because everything is done through digital systems.

The door-to-door education campaign continues in Kikodi Kinondoni Region where TRA officials have already visited businessmen in the areas of Mbezi Luis, Kibamba, Kwembe and Ubungo Kibangu to educate them about tax issues and the services that TRA provides.

The businessmen have also been educated about the procedures for starting a business and the documents they need and how to make tax estimates.

Similarly, Officers have used the opportunity to get opinions on how to improve TRA services, listen to complaints and challenges and find solutions, the aim being to strengthen the relationship between TRA and traders, increase voluntary tax payment and remind taxpayers of their responsibility to pay taxes correctly and on time.
