The challenges of the Union that have not yet been resolved are being worked on by SMZ and SMT to be completely resolved

The Vice Chairman of CCM Zanzibar, President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has said that both the SMZ and SMT governments will continue to place special emphasis on resolving the challenges of the Union that have not yet been resolved.

He said that the governments will continue to hold meetings and discussions with the aim of providing solutions to the challenges that are still an obstacle to the Union, which he described as unique in the world.

President, Dr. Mwinyi, said this, April 26, 2026 at a conference to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar organized by the CCM Youth Union (UVCCM), held at the Tunguu Youth College, South Unguja Region.

He said that the 62 years of the Union have brought great achievements to both sides of the Union in the political, social and economic fields, and urged Tanzanians to honor and maintain the Union for the benefit of the Nation.

Vice Chairman, Dr. Mwinyi, has commended the National CCM Chairman, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her willingness to advance the mission and goals of the Union as established by its founders, the late Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere and the late Sheikh Abeid Amani Karume in 1964, and continued by the leaders of the following phases.

Dr. Mwinyi has urged Tanzanians, especially the youth, to see the importance of preserving peace and avoiding the temptations of peace violations and maintaining the Union which is an important shield of unity, solidarity and brotherhood.

He said the Union has a great contribution to strengthening peace and stability in the country while assuring them that both Governments will continue to develop efforts to resolve the challenges facing the youth in the country.

He explained that both Governments under the supervision of CCM have created special ministries and placed great emphasis on addressing the various challenges facing the youth and allocated special funds to empower them through various opportunities available in the country, including employment, leadership positions and improving education curricula so that the youth can be employed or self-employed.

Concluding his speech, the Vice Chairman of CCM Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, called on the youth to continue to use the existing political, social and economic opportunities, and assured them that the Government will continue to implement all the things it promised them during the election campaigns.

Dr. Mwinyi also commended the CCM Youth Union for seeing the importance of organizing the conference to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the Union, at a time when the country continues to witness great political, social and economic achievements and developments, as well as maintaining peace and stability.

The Chairman of CCM National, who is also the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia, speaking at the conference to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, stressed to the youth to strengthen solidarity as it is an important pillar for the strengthening of the Union, unity and peace of the Nation.

The conference was opened by the Chairman of Chama Cha Mapinduzi Taifa, Dr. Samia, in parallel with the conclusion of leadership and patriotism training for secretaries and assistant secretaries of UVCCM.
