The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has ordered Mama Lishe and Baba Lishe to be given education on the use of clean energy so that it becomes a priority in reducing costs and protecting health and the environment.
President, Dr. Samia said this on April 21, 2026 in Dar es Salaam while opening the National Conference of Mama Lishe and Baba Lishe which brought together the entrepreneurs from various parts of the country.
He said that if the entrepreneurs are given education on Clean Cooking Energy, they will be able to cook modernly, save and care for the environment as well as reduce costs since the use of Clean Energy costs very little, so they will be able to increase their income and contribute to the growth of our economy.
“The work they do is important for our development, as it enables other citizens to carry out their duties, it is also a catalyst for promoting employment and social welfare”, said Dr. Samia
In addition to issuing an order for the use of Clean Energy for cooking, Dr. Samia has also handed over a check of TZS 94.15 billion for loans to youth, women and people with disabilities so that they can grow their capital and strengthen their work for national development.
Other orders that President, Dr. Samia gave at the Conference to government authorities to strengthen and increase productivity in the sector are that entrepreneurs be allocated special areas for their businesses throughout the country.
Others are that they be provided with nutrition and food safety education,
They are provided with entrepreneurship and capital management training and They are enabled to benefit from financial services provided in the country.
“As we move towards the implementation of Vision 2050 and as directed by the CCM 2025 Manifesto, we are placing emphasis on formalizing and facilitating small businesses, including Mama Lishe and Baba Lishe, so that they can grow and become sustainable”, said Dr. Samia
