TRA’s IDRAS and TANCIS systems cannot be hacked – CG Mwenda

It has been stated that taxpayer information is safe and no one will be able to hack through TRA’s IDRAS and TANCIS systems because the system is safe and has been proven to be highly secure.

The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Yusuph Mwenda said this on April 13, 2026 in Mwanza while opening a meeting of TRA managers from all Tax regions in the country where he said the IDRAS system has been in use since February 09, 2026 and the TANCIS system is all going well and no challenges have arisen.

Mr. Mwenda said the TANCIS system had a few challenges but is currently going well so taxpayer information is safe because TRA is legally required to protect all taxpayers’ data.

He said that all TRA systems are secure although there are rumors that there is a possibility of people entering and hacking taxpayer information so he expressed concern that there is no such thing as that is fabricated information TRA systems are secure and taxpayer information no one will be able to hack it.

He said that although TRA systems are connected to some government systems such as the Police, Brela, TCRA and eGGA systems that is not a reason that hackers will be able to hack taxpayer information through those systems as they are also safe, because they have put in place large systems that prevent hacking.

“We have put in place very strong Cyber security controls so it is difficult for anyone to enter TRA systems and take information through hacking and those who say they can do so are liars and should be ignored”, said CG Mwenda.
