Taifa Gas Tanzania Limited, owned by businessman, Mr. Rostam Aziz, has entered into an agreement to acquire a stake in Orca Energy Group Inc.’s gas business in Tanzania, a move that is being described as a historic one in the energy sector.
According to a statement issued on April 13, 2026, Taifa Gas will acquire 49% of the shares of PAE PanAfrican Energy Corporation (PAEM) while Amber Energy Investment L.L.C-FZ will take the remaining 51%.
The agreement involves the sale of 100% of Orca’s business in Tanzania, including all its rights in the Songo Songo gas project, which is a key pillar of gas production for power and industrial use.
The move is said to be part of a major ownership shift in the gas sector, where local investors are beginning to take a greater role in strategic assets.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Rostam said the plan has taken a long time to develop and aims to ensure Tanzania benefits more from its natural resources.
