The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has urged ambassadors who are going to represent Tanzania in various countries to prioritize economic diplomacy by announcing investment opportunities available in the country.
President Dr. Mwinyi said this on April 08, 2026, when he met with the ambassadors who arrived at the State House, Zanzibar, to bid him farewell before going to their work stations.
President Dr. Mwinyi has urged the ambassadors to carry out their duties by considering the interests of both sides of the Union, as well as prioritizing the implementation of the main policy of economic diplomacy.
He explained to the ambassadors that for Zanzibar, the main policy is the Blue Economy which is accompanied by tourism, so it is good that they focus on convincing investors from those countries to come and invest in the country, as there are many opportunities in various areas of investment.
President Dr. Mwinyi has noted that Zanzibar is ready to receive investors, especially in infrastructure investments including ports, airports, roads, fisheries and tourism.
Another area that President Dr. Mwinyi has emphasized is the availability of traders and investors in the seaweed crop, as well as those who will invest in the purchase and value addition of the clove crop.
President Dr. Mwinyi has assured the ambassadors that the Government will put in place a better communication system to eliminate bureaucracy for investors and increase efficiency. In addition, he has congratulated them and wished them all the best in the implementation of their responsibilities.
Tanzania’s Ambassador to Sweden, Ambassador Swahiba Mndeme, speaking on behalf of the ambassadors, has assured President Dr. Mwinyi that they have received and will implement his instructions in practice and fully promote economic diplomacy.
The outgoing ambassadors are Ambassador Engineer Zena Ahmed Said (Saudi Arabia), Ambassador Cyprian John Luhemeja (Zambia), Ambassador Maulidah Bwanaheri Hassan (Oman), Ambassador Salim Othman Hamad (Comoros), Ambassador Swahiba Habib Mndeme (Sweden), Ambassador Noel Emmanuel Kaganda (Korea) and Ambassador Mussa Haji Ali, Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York.
