The Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) has launched a new plan to improve customer service by purchasing work equipment including 100 vehicles, 100 motorcycles and 284 motorbikes, a move aimed at increasing efficiency in service delivery regardless of the geography of the areas where its customers live.
Speaking to journalists in Dar es Salaam, September 09, 2025, TANESCO’s Acting Director of Communications and Customer Service, Ms. Irene Gowelle said the decision followed a visit by the Managing Director, Mr. Lazaro Twange who noted the great need for work equipment in various regions of the country.

“The organization has purchased these equipment to increase efficiency where vehicles, motorcycles and motorbikes have already been distributed in various regions. Our goal is to reach customers quickly and on time, regardless of the geography of the relevant area.
This move has significantly reduced costs, as previously we were spending 1.3 billion shillings every month on renting vehicles”, said Ms. Gowelle.
He said that apart from facilitating access to services, the presence of these tools will also improve the working environment for TANESCO employees, who are an important pillar in ensuring that customers receive quality services.
He also urged the executives of the organization to preserve them and use them for their intended purposes.
These tools are expected to be used especially in areas with emergency desks that provide 24-hour services, to ensure that customer challenges are resolved quickly and on time.
