Those who owe K’Koo are banned from getting new market places

The Kariakoo Markets Corporation (KMC) has said that all those owed by traders more than 400 billion shillings which are debts accumulated over a long period of time and emphasized that those owed are prohibited from getting places in the new market.

The statement issued by KMC yesterday and signed by the Chief Relations Officer, Revocatus Kissimba said the market owes the traders 497,773,019.26 shillings and any trader who owes must pay his debt so that he can return to the new market and be able to register on the TAUSI system used by the government.

The statement, said the management of the market will not allow a trader with previous debt to get ownership of the area to do business in the new market and asked all those who are owed to pay so that they can return to the market.

The statement went on to say that improvements have been made in the operation of business in the new market and that the government has ordered the use of the TAUSI electronic system to register traders, advertise business areas with the aim of bringing productivity in revenue collection and working efficiently.

In the statement, Acting General Manager of KMC, Sigsibert Valentine thanked the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan by providing 28.03 Billion Shillings which was used to achieve the construction and renovation of the Kariakoo Market which has currently reached 93%.

The Kariakoo market burned down and the government gave money to rebuild it and now the construction is almost finished so that the traders can return to continue doing business.
