The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has received the flag of the Inter-regional Tourism Policy Forum (ITOP), officially marking Zanzibar’s selection as the host for the 28th ITOP Forum in 2027.

President Dr. Mwinyi was presented with the flag by the Governor of Jeju, H.E. Wi Seong-gon, on October 29, 2026, during the opening ceremony of the 27th ITOP Forum held at Jeju Stone Park, Jeju Island, Republic of Korea (South Korea).

Hosting this event will provide Zanzibar with an opportunity to showcase its tourism attractions, culture, and investment potential, while also strengthening cooperation with other island regions globally to promote sustainable tourism and economic development.

ITOP comprises 12 member regions: Jeju, Bali, Hainan, Okinawa, the Southern Province of Sri Lanka, Hawai‘i, Zanzibar, Phuket, Cebu, Penang, the Galápagos, and the South Aegean.
