The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), through the Customs and Excise Department, has provided education on the changes in Customs Laws resulting from the amendments to the 2026 Finance Act to staff and customs stakeholders served at the Tanga Port and Horohoro Border Post (OSBP), in Tanga region.
The training aimed to ensure that all parties gain a common understanding on the implementation of changes made in customs laws and procedures.
Participants in the training have been provided with a detailed explanation of the changes in the law, new implementation procedures and their impact on import and export activities, in order to increase efficiency in service delivery, strengthen compliance with the law and facilitate trade.
Stakeholders who attended the training have stated that the education has helped them to understand in detail the changes made, a step that will enable them to carry out their duties accurately and reduce challenges that may arise in the implementation of customs procedures.
The training is part of the ongoing efforts to build collaboration between TRA and customs stakeholders by ensuring timely access to accurate information and building their capacity to adapt to changes in the law. The move is expected to increase efficiency in service delivery and strengthen compliance with customs laws.
