Arusha: The Tanga Regional Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) has emerged among the best performing institutions in the country in public procurement management after winning two awards at the 10th Public Procurement Conference of 2026 currently underway in Arusha.
The awards given by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) are based on TARURA Tanga’s success in fully complying with the requirements of the Public Procurement Act as well as demonstrating great efficiency in awarding contracts.
In the first award, TARURA Tanga was recognized for implementing at a high level the requirements of the law requiring 30% of the procurement budget to be allocated for social groups, a move cited as an excellent example of the implementation of Government policies to uplift groups with special economic needs.
The second award was based on the Agency’s success in contract management after successfully awarding 106 contracts in the 2025/2026 financial year, placing it among the best performing institutions in the country.
These achievements continue to confirm TARURA as one of the institutions that effectively manage the use of public funds through compliance with the law, transparency and accountability in the procurement process in the country.
