President Dr. Mwinyi wanted Sweden to invest more in Zanzibar

President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has thanked the Swedish Government for its long-term cooperation in contributing to the development of Zanzibar, while emphasizing the importance of further strengthening the relationship between the two parties through trade and investment.

President Dr. Mwinyi said this today, on July 14, 2026, when he met with the Swedish Ambassador in Tanzania, Hon. Charlotta Ozaki Macias, who arrived at the Zanzibar Palace to say goodbye to him after finishing his work in the country.

In addition, President Dr. Mwinyi said the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has continued to create a friendly and attractive environment for investment in various economic sectors, especially energy, blue economy and seaweed farming.

He has explained that the Government welcomes companies from Sweden to invest in Zanzibar, especially in the production of renewable energy to increase electricity production and strengthen economic development.

Likewise, President Dr. Mwinyi has said that the Government has planned to increase the value of the seaweed crop by processing it and producing various products, a step that will increase the income of farmers and stimulate the growth of the blue economy.

Likewise, President Dr. Mwinyi has emphasized that Zanzibar continues to appreciate Sweden’s contribution in the education, health and social welfare sectors, while asking the country to continue supporting Zanzibar in the implementation of the Zanzibar Development Vision 2050.

On his part, the Ambassador of Sweden in Tanzania, Hon. Charlotta Ozaki Macias, has congratulated the President Dr. Mwinyi and the people of Zanzibar for an important step to strengthen political reconciliation through the Joint Declaration and the signing of Action Agendas between the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and ACT-Wazalendo.
