TRA hands over smuggled vehicle to Shinyanga Police

The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) through the Customs Department has handed over a Fuso vehicle to the Shinyanga Urban District Police Force for office use, the vehicle being imported into the country in violation of Customs Laws.

The handover, led by the TRA Shinyanga Regional Inspection Manager, Mr. David Makwabe on behalf of the TRA Regional Manager, was held on February 24, 2026 at the TRA Offices, Shinyanga.

Speaking immediately after the handover, the Shinyanga Regional Customs Officer, Mr. Joseph Nayingo, urged importers to comply with existing customs laws when importing their products to avoid the consequences of importing goods into the country without clearing the procedures, including the confiscation of the goods.

He said that when goods are imported into the country without paying the appropriate taxes, they cause the Government to lose its revenue and ultimately hinder the financing of social services such as road construction, health and education projects.

The vehicle, a Fuso type, was received by the Shinyanga District Police Commander (OCD) SSP Stephen Wilson Kimaro on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Camillus Wambura.
