Mloganzila Hospital to hold modern kidney stone removal camp

Muhimbili National Hospital-Mloganzila has organized a special modern treatment camp for kidney stone removal surgery for patients with the challenge using modern laser radiation, where the camp will be held from January 21-23, 2026.

Urinary System Surgeon. Dr. Hamis Isaka said that due to the need for the service by many people, the hospital has decided to conduct the treatment to ensure that citizens benefit from the significant investment made by the Government in the health sector.

He said the kidney stone removal service using laser radiation is a treatment that helps the patient experience less pain, no scarring or incisions where the patient will stay in the ward for a short time of about one to two days.

According to Dr. Isaka, the service involves patients with small to medium kidney stones, patients who have not been helped by medication, who are afraid of major surgery, patients who are overweight or have blood problems and who get kidney stones frequently.

Dr. Isaka said that ways to prevent kidney stones include drinking plenty of water, at least 3 liters a day, reducing salt intake, reducing red meat intake, eating fruits and vegetables, exercising, and getting regular checkups.
