Teachers are the main foundation of development – Prime Minister

PRIME MINISTER, Kassim Majaliwa has said that teachers are the main pillar of the development of any nation in the world as they are the ones who provide the most important human resources of the nation.

He said that educational, social and economic achievements are due to the efforts of teachers as teachers are the pride of the family, community and country and through their hands, Tanzanian youth are built on knowledge, skills and patriotic values.

He said this, on October 03, 2025 during the celebration of World Teachers’ Day which was celebrated in Bukombe, Geita region at the Ushirombo Secondary School grounds.

“Every step of social and economic prosperity begins in the classroom through the efforts and knowledge of teachers, without teachers, there is no profession, no leaders of tomorrow and no nation can stand strong, teachers are the source of innovation and creativity of the new generation”, he said

He said that in recognizing the importance of the teaching cadre in this country, the Sixth Phase Government led by His Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has continued to improve the environment for the cadre, including by promoting and strengthening teacher training.

He said that in order to address the shortage of teachers in the country, the Sixth Phase Government has continued to value and invest in the teaching cadre by recruiting new teachers every year.

Mr. Majaliwa has instructed the President’s Office-Palami and the President’s Office – UTUMISHI to conduct a comparison of teachers within the relevant regions to ensure that every school gets teachers so that Tanzanian children receive a quality education.

“The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in collaboration with Teachers’ Colleges and the Tanzania Institute of Education (TET) should strengthen professional and continuous training for teachers so that they can keep up with technological changes and the needs of today’s world”, he said.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko has said that the teaching profession is the only profession that makes a person better than even teaching itself and at any time he spares all his time and energy to make a person a better husband or wife or even a better parent.

“The teaching profession makes a person a good citizen in the country and more importantly makes him a servant, worker and producer of good wealth, throughout his life, this is a profession that we believe is of the second creation after man is born by his parents, the second work continues here on earth and the creator is the teacher”, he said

He said the teacher is the one who gives direction to everyone’s life and if you see any civilized and civilized society, you do not need to guess who is the source but the teacher is the reason for it.

Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Prof. Caroline Nombo said the sixth phase government has continued to carry out various activities that enable teachers to do their jobs effectively and bring positive results including the construction of infrastructure in schools and the goal is to promote learning and teaching.

He said the government appreciates the efforts made by teachers as they have been the essence of success.

“Each of us has passed through the hands of teachers, we thank all teachers who give their strength and knowledge to empower Tanzanians”, he said
