Ministry of Energy staff receive training on clean cooking energy

Ministry of Energy staff have received training on the proper use of induction cookers after being handed over the cookers by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko recently.

Dr. Biteko handed over the cookers to Ministry of Energy staff as part of the implementation of the National Strategy for the Use of Clean Cooking Energy and in recognition that these staff are ambassadors in providing Clean Cooking Energy education to the public.

The training, which was held at the Ministry of Energy Offices – Mtumba, Dodoma, was organized by the Clean Cooking Energy Unit in collaboration with experts from the Positive Cooker Company.

Providing training on the proper use of the cookers, the CEO of the Positive Cooker Company, Mr. Atukuzwe Willson said the aim of the training is to sensitize the public to use electricity for cooking through smart, low-power cookers.

“The aim of providing this education is to ensure that every Tanzanian abandons the use of dirty energy to protect the environment and our health but it is also part of efforts to support the clean cooking energy campaign where by 2034 80% of Tanzanians should use clean cooking energy”, said Mr. Willson

Speaking about these smart electric stoves, he said they use an average of half a unit to 1.5 units for an average of 15 to 90 minutes, equivalent to only 65 to 534 shillings, a situation that proves the effectiveness of these stoves to be cost-effective, save time, protect health and the environment.
