Ministry of Energy completes seven strategic projects

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, has said that among the strategic projects being implemented in the country, the Ministry of Energy is implementing about seven projects.

Engineer Mramba said on August 17, 2025 during the launch of the Youth Economic Empowerment Program (YEE) which covers the areas covered by the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project.

“The projects are the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project, the Julius Nyerere Dam (JNHPP), the Gas to Liquids (LNG) Project, the Oil Exploration Project, the Rumakali and Ruhudji Power Projects and the Mnazi Bay North Oil Exploration Project”, said Engineer Mramba.

He said that among the seven projects, the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Dam project generating 2,115 megawatts has been completed and is feeding electricity into the National Grid.

He said the crude oil pipeline project (EACOP) has reached 65 percent and is nearing completion, the LNG project is in the final stages and the Ruhudji and Rumakali power projects have completed their studies.

He said the Tanzanian government has contributed approximately 1.12 trillion shillings to the EACOP project as Tanzania’s share in the project and there are 200 Tanzanian companies that are implementing various works in the EACOP project which will be paid a total of 1.325 trillion shillings.

Engineer Mramba said that apart from the economic opportunities available, the citizens of the areas where the EACOP power project will pass will also benefit from being connected to the electricity service.
