The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, is expected to launch the East Africa Trade and Logistics Center [EACLC] built in the Ubungo area on August 01, 2025 in Dar es Salaam as part of the Tanzanian Government’s plan to enhance trade and investment opportunities.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday at a press conference, the Regional Commissioner, Mr. Albert Chalamila, urged Tanzanians and foreigners to attend the launch and look at the existing opportunities including the investment opportunities that are still open.
Mr. Chalamila said there are positions that have already been taken but those interested in doing business at the center should attend the launch to see the investments made by the sixth phase government as well as see the various business opportunities available at the center.
Mr. Chalamila said the Government decided to relocate the regional and international bus station that was in Ubungo to Mbezi where it has spent more than US$100 million to build the East African trade and transportation center with more than 2,000 shops.
He said the goal of the construction is to increase business opportunities so that it can be realized. Therefore, he urged citizens to come forward and take over the shops as they will be able to import items directly from China and put them in their shops.
Mr. Chalamila continued to say that the center has been built in collaboration between the Tanzanian Government through the Ubungo Municipal Council and an investor from China while emphasizing that the cooperation of investors from China is not for the purpose of taking advantage of locals but is an investment system with great benefits for Tanzanians.
The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Chalamila also urged Tanzanians to take advantage of the CHAN football tournament to do business as the Region through the Department of Trade has organized an exhibition of small and large traders in the area around the Benjamin Mkapa football stadium.
Mr. Chalamila has urged Tanzanians to come out in large numbers to participate in the launch of CHAN on August 02, 2025 at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium, Dar es Salaam. 100 buses have already been deployed to each District to enable Tanzanians to reach the stadium.
He has urged bodaboda, bajaji and hotel owners in Dar es Salaam to take advantage of the visitors to do business.
The launch of the East African Trade Center and the presence of the CHAN tournament and later ACFCON are important business opportunities for Tanzanians.
