President Mwinyi thanks Canada for continuing to support Zanzibar

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has said that Zanzibar needs more investors in the tourism and investment sectors, which are priority sectors for economic growth.

President Dr. Mwinyi said yesterday when he met with the Canadian Minister for International Development, Mr. Randeep Sarai, who arrived at the State House in Zanzibar on July 22, 2025.

President Dr. Mwinyi has thanked the Canadian Government for continuing to provide development assistance to Tanzania, including Zanzibar.

He said that the country’s assistance in the education and health sectors has played a major role in bringing about strategic reforms to strengthen health services and the development of education in the country.

President Dr. Mwinyi has told Minister Randeep that there are still many more opportunities to invest in Zanzibar, while noting the existence of special policies and incentives for investors investing in the islands.

Speaking about the upcoming General Election, Dr. Mwinyi has assured Canada that the elections will be free, peaceful and stable, due to the strengthening of the Government of National Unity system that helped unite the people and maintain a state of peace and stability over the past five years, a situation which he believes will continue even during and after the elections.

Canada’s Minister for International Development, Mr. Randeep Sarai, has assured Zanzibar of continued cooperation and implementation of various development programs funded by the country, especially in the education and health sectors.
