Mining opportunities are digital, Tanzanians will have to take advantage of it

📍 Dodoma: Government through the Mining Commission has continued to create a viable environment to ensure effective management, transparency and involvement of all stakeholders in the entire chain of mining activities.

These have been the result of policy improvements, laws and digital systems used in managing the industry.

Speaking on June 21, 2025 at the Public Service Week celebrations taking place at the Chinangali stadiums in Dodoma, the Mine’s Inspectorate Officer from the Mining and Environmental Audit Directorate of the Mining Commission, Mr. Ashen Mwambage, said many Tanzanians should take advantage of the various opportunities offered through the mining sector.

Said Geita, Shinyanga, Mara and Mbeya, citizens have been encouraged to participate in mining activities, which contributed significantly to increasing family income and stimulating economic and social development.

“The government has done a great job to ensure these opportunities reach every Tanzanian. Through the mineral markets established in different regions, now the price of mining is open, government revenue is increasing and miners are benefiting fairly,” said Mr. Mwamba.

In terms of technology he said the government has been at the forefront of pushing the use of modern techniques in exploration, extraction and mining to increase efficiency, reduce environmental impacts and ensure safety for small -scale miners.

This has gone hand in hand with the provision of regular training to the miners.

“We should not sell raw minerals but increase value here in the country. Mining value has opened up many employment opportunities, entrepreneurship and raising national income”, he said.

Mr. Mwambage said the contribution of the mining sector has continued to create opportunities in other sectors such as transportation, accommodation services, freight transport, financial services and insurance, which shows how the sector carries the country’s economy.

The Mining Commission calls on all Tanzanians, especially young people, to take advantage of the opportunities available by complying with the rules and rules set out so that they can benefit from the nation’s resources for the benefit of the present and future generations.
