THE PRIME MINISTER, Mr. Kassim Majaliwa has called on the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and RALGM to jointly manage and control the quality of education provided from primary education to higher education in order to continue to meet national, regional and international standards.
He issued these instructions on June 20, 2025 when he represented the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan at the 20th anniversary of the Morogoro Muslim University (MUM), at the university grounds in Morogoro region.
“Our authorities should continue to manage this by doing so, not only will it continue to enhance the quality of our education, but it will also enable scholars in the country to meet the standards and needs of the job market”, he said.
Mr. Majaliwa has called on Educational Institutions in the country to strengthen relations with all universities in the country that provide knowledge to Tanzanian youth as well as produce trainers to be part of the knowledge and training network in the country.
He said Majaliwa supports the efforts of various stakeholders in contributing to the development of the college through a special system (MUM Community Fund), President Dr. Samia has provided an amount of 100 million shillings so that it can continue to provide services to Tanzanian children.
The Prime Minister said the Government is continuing with the construction of the Education Sector Statistics System that will facilitate access to all statistics in the sector which will have the ability to receive various statistics related to education from other Government systems including NIDA, RITA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Deputy Minister of Education, Qs Omar Kipanga said that over the past 20 years, the college has succeeded in having more than 32 programs from two programs when it started and has succeeded in producing more than 15,000 graduates.
“These graduates have been exemplary in their work and ethics that make them trusted in various positions in society and the Government in general”, he said
He said the College has put in place plans that take into account the National Development Vision 2050 and the new direction of Education in Tanzania that aims to provide Education, Skills and Knowledge in order to build graduates’ abilities and qualifications for self-employment and employment in the competitive global job market.
The Mufti and Grand Sheikh of Tanzania Sheikh, Dr. Abubakar Zubeir bin in Ali has called on Muslims and Tanzanians in general to put in place strategies to support the college so that it continues to do well and provide education to Tanzanians in the country.
“Muslims and Tanzanians, if we help this college, there is no Islam without teachers, when Islam came, it fought a lot against ignorance, let’s support our leaders by supporting this college”, said
The Vice-Chancellor of the College Prof. Juma Assad and added that one of the biggest challenges in the college is the lack of hostels for female students.
