The Belgian organization Child Help International, which is involved in helping children with large heads and open backs, together with the Association of Parents of Children with Large Heads and Open Backs (ASBAHT), have visited Muhimbili National Hospital Mloganzila with the aim of discussing how they can collaborate to help children with large heads and open backs who are treated at the hospital.
Speaking to the guests, the Deputy Executive Director of Muhimbili National Hospital Mloganzila, Dr. Julieth Magandi said that medical costs are expensive and a large percentage of parents who give birth to children with large heads and open backs are low-income and cannot afford medical costs, so the collaboration will be productive because it will help solve the challenges of these children.
Dr. Magandi added that Muhimbili Mloganzila has been receiving children with such challenges, receiving approximately 25 children from various regions in the country per month.
“We thank you for coming at a time when many parents of children with large heads and open backs need help with medical equipment to enable them to undergo surgery. Mloganzila as the National Hospital receives many patients who are referred from various hospitals and do not have the means”, said Dr. Magandi
ASBAHT Coordinator, Mr. Norbert Kyando said that after the institution saw a large number of children in need of help, they saw it as good to come and collaborate with Muhimbili Mloganzila to see how they can help these children.
“We as ASBAHT have seen it as good to collaborate with Muhimbili Mloganzila because you are doing better in serving these children so we promise to collaborate with you side by side to ensure that we help these children”, said Mr. Kyando
