Dodoma gets mining education

Thousands of citizens from Dodoma Region and neighboring regions have turned out in large numbers at the Chinangali grounds to participate in the Public Service Week Celebrations, with many attracted by the Minerals Commission Pavilion which has become a hub of education and knowledge about the Mining Sector.

The pavilion has become a major attraction due to the provision of in-depth education on the various types of minerals found in the country, the procedures for obtaining licenses for research, mining, processing and trading minerals as well as the economic opportunities available through the sector.

Citizens of all ages have been shown to be very eager to gain understanding on how best to participate in mining activities in a safe, sustainable and productive way for themselves and the nation.

An officer from the Directorate of Mines and Environmental Inspection from the Minerals Commission, Mr. Ashen Mwambage, has provided education to citizens with great competence, explaining in detail the importance of protecting the environment during mining activities and how to comply with laws and procedures in order to benefit accordingly.

“We encourage citizens to take advantage of the opportunities available in the Mining Sector by adhering to safety and environmental protection principles. This sector is an important pillar of our economy, and every Tanzanian has the opportunity to benefit from it,” said Mr. Mwambage

Citizens have commended the efforts of the Mining Commission for bringing services closer to the citizens through the exhibition, saying that the knowledge they gained will enable them to make informed decisions about their participation in the mining sector.

The Mining Commission will continue to provide education to the citizens throughout the celebration period, while emphasizing the participation of citizens in the development of the sector that contributes significantly to the GDP.

The theme of this year’s Public Service Week Celebrations, which is expected to end on June 23, 2025, is “Encourage the Use of Digital Systems to Increase Access to Information and Promote Accountability”.
