Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) has been presented with an environmental conservation award at the culmination of the National Environment Week celebrations held in Dodoma on June 05, 2025.
The award was given to recognize TANESCO’s contribution to environmental conservation through the implementation of the Julius Nyerere Power Plant Project (JNHPP) which has continued to focus on environmental conservation principles while contributing to reducing greenhouse gases.
The award was presented by the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Mpango and received by TANESCO’s Managing Director, Mr. Lazaro Twange, at the official closing ceremony of the celebrations.
Through its participation in the exhibition, TANESCO has continued to demonstrate its strong commitment to implementing large-scale electricity projects with environmental safety in mind, including JNHPP and others aimed at bringing benefits to current and future generations.
