Citizens of 71 countries to enter Tanzania without VISA

Dodoma: The government has entered into agreements with various countries to simplify the visa process whereby citizens of 71 countries do not require visas when entering the country.

He said that currently tourists from most countries in the world are allowed to obtain visas on arrival at international airports such as Julius Nyerere (Dar es Salaam), Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Mr. Dunstan Kitandula (Mb) while responding to a question by Dr. Pius Stephen Chaya who wanted to know what efforts have been made to simplify the availability of VISAs for tourists of different nationalities who come to the country in response to Tanzania the Royal Tour.

Mr. Kitandula added that the government has continued to improve the visa issuance process in the country to keep up with technological changes in the world.

He said the government through the Department of Immigration has introduced an online visa application system (e-Visa) that enables tourists to apply for visas anywhere in the world without having to visit the embassy.

“Furthermore, the Government has improved the Immigration Regulations of 2023 (GN 428) whereby tourists using Visitors Pass are now allowed to visit East African Community countries and return to Tanzania without the need to reapply for a visa,” said Mr. Kitandula.

The visa issue is directly related to the tourism sector. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism has strengthened cooperation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, particularly the Immigration Department, in various fields including the collection of tourist statistics and having joint strategies to attract tourists and investment opportunities.

Recently, the Ministry through the National Tourism Academy has provided training in Customer Service and Hospitality to Immigration Officers to improve the services provided to visitors entering the country, including tourists.
