Simu 200 Market Traders to Continue Trading

The Minister of State for OWMO-Palami, Prof. Riziki Shemdoe has said that traders of Simu 2000 Market should continue trading in the market.

Prof. Shemdoe issued the order on April 10, 2026 when he visited and inspected the area of the famous Simu 2000 Communication Market which was hit by a fire this week.

The Minister of TAMISEMI, speaking to the traders of the Market, has conveyed condolences from the Hon. Dr. Samia, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, where he said it is a matter of thanking God that the disaster has occurred but not a single person has lost his life.

Prof. Shemdoe has directed traders to return to doing their business but not to build booths because within a short time they will move to a new market which is in the construction stages and will not be completed for a long time because he has already instructed the contractor to work day and night so that within four months he can finish it.

He has instructed the District Commissioner to monitor the reinstatement of traders on a daily basis so that the correct traders are reinstated and not broker traders.

In parallel, the Minister of RALGM has congratulated the Regional Commissioner and the Ubungo District Commissioner for effectively implementing the instructions of the President and the Prime Minister.

The Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Mr. Albert Chalamila, has thanked the Minister of RALGM for his effective work as well as receiving and continuing to work on the applications of 2000 Mobile Traders.

Mr. Chalamila told the Minister of RALGM how the Dar es Salaam Region has planned to eliminate the nuisance of car parking where each district has set a budget to build parking in various parts of the City.
