MKUMBI-II to be used as a tool to achieve the goals of the National Development Vision 2050

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Public and Private Sectors in the implementation of the Second Plan to Improve the Business and Investment Environment (MKUMBI-II) in order to accelerate the achievement of the goals of the National Development Vision 2050.

Speaking at the MKUMBI-II Draft Review Meeting held at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre (JNICC), March 27 2026, in Dar es Salaam.

President Dr. Mwinyi said achieving a high-income economy by 2050 requires an average economic growth of 10 percent per year, in line with significant investment in the productive sectors.

He said the Government has continued to improve the business environment by reviewing laws, reducing fees and taxes, as well as strengthening IT infrastructure and systems, steps that have begun to yield positive results in attracting investment and increasing employment.

Likewise, President Dr. Mwinyi has noted that the success of MKUMBI-II will depend on shared responsibility, sustainable cooperation and the use of modern technologies, while encouraging stakeholders to provide comments that will improve the draft before its official implementation.

The meeting was attended by various Government Leaders, the Private Sector and Development Stakeholders.
