**He leaves behind three children and a widow

The body of former Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, Coordination and the Disabled) and Member of Parliament for Isimani Constituency, William Lukuvi (70) will be buried in his village Idodi, Iringa Rural District on March 31, 2026 with his funeral expected to involve various leaders led by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The funeral schedule for Lukuvi who has led Isimani Constituency for over 30 years since 1995 has been released on March 26, 2026 where on Friday his body will be laid to rest by members of parliament at the Bunge grounds, Dodoma and on Saturday March 28, 2026, his body will be laid to rest in Dar es Salaam at Karimjee grounds.

On Sunday, March 29, 2026, Lukuvi’s body will be flown to Iringa City and on March 30, it will be laid to rest in Iringa City at Gangilonga before being taken to his home village, Idodi, Isimani Constituency, which he led for 31 years starting in 1995.

Lukuvi was the oldest member of parliament in parliament and died on March 25, 2026 at 1:00 am at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital in Dodoma while undergoing treatment for a heart attack. He is survived by three children and a widow.

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, regrets to announce the death of His Excellency William Vangimembe Lukuvi (MP).

Mr. Lukuvi, former Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, Coordination and Persons with Disabilities) and Member of Parliament for Isimani Constituency, died on March 25, 2026 at 1:00 am at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital, Dodoma while receiving treatment for a heart attack.

A statement issued by the government and signed by the Principal Secretary, Ambassador Dr. Moses Kusiluka said that the President expresses his condolences to the Speaker of the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania, his family, the people of Isimani Constituency, relatives, friends and all Tanzanians for the tragedy.
