President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Hon. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, said Tanzanians will continue to remember and honor Hayati, Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli for his great contribution to the development of the Nation and leadership that left a lasting mark.
Speaking on March 17, 2026 in the commemoration of five years of Dr. Magufuli held at JS Stadium, Chato, Geita Region, President Dr. Mwinyi has said that the best way to honor him is to develop the principles of responsibility, to care for the people, especially the weak, and to manage the country’s resources for the benefit of all.
He said Hayati Dr. Magufuli was a sincere believer of the Union, while congratulating the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for developing his vision, and insisting that the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar will continue to provide sincere cooperation.
Vice President, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi, who represented the President Dr. Samia, said the late Dr. Magufuli will continue to be remembered for his hard work, dedication and determination in development decisions.
In another step, President Dr. Samia has contributed 100 million shillings for the construction of the Life Museum Dr. Magufuli, while in collaboration with the construction of the Parish Church of Mt. John Museum.
Various donations have been collected including 50 million shillings from the President Dr. Samia, 30 million shillings from the President, Dr. Mwinyi, and 29 million shillings from the Vice President, Dr. Field and collect a total of 474,000,000 million shillings.
President Dr. Mwinyi, with Mama Mariam Mwinyi, also participated in placing a wreath at the grave of Hayati Dr. Magufuli along with other leaders.
The commemoration has been attended by the leaders of both Governments, religious leaders, security and defense agencies as well as various citizens.
