Babati: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Land, Natural Resources and Tourism has commended the Government for the construction of the Mamire Gate (Gate) to enable domestic and foreign tourists to enter the Tarangire National Park through Babati in Manyara Region.
Speaking after the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Land, Natural Resources and Tourism reviewed the project, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Timotheo Mnzava (MP) said the completion of the gate will make the park have five gates which will help boost the economy of the people of Babati and the nation as a whole.
He added that the construction of the gate is an effort and vision of the Sixth Phase Government under President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan and that they should be supported to develop tourism in the country.
Along with commending the Ministry, Mr. Mnzava has called on the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism to effectively manage the construction of the project so that it is completed on time.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Mr. Hamad Hassan Chande (Mb) assured the Committee that his office would effectively manage all the comments made by the members of the Committee.
Mr. Chande called on the public to seize the opportunities of the construction of the gate, especially the creation of cultural tourism products for visitors who will pass through Babati to enter Tarangire National Park.
The visit was also attended by the District Commissioner of Babati, Hon. Emmanuela Kaganda, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Mr. Nkoba Mabula, some members of the Management of the Ministry, Leaders of the Tanzania National Parks Agency (TANAPA) and various experts.
