Start making changes now – Dr. Lekashingo

The Chairperson of the Minerals Commission, Dr. Janet Lekashingo, has urged the Commission’s female employees to start taking steps to make positive changes in their lives now, instead of waiting for the end of the year to make new plans.

Speaking on March 09, 2026 during an Iftar organized by the women of the Minerals Commission Headquarters in Dodoma, Dr. Lekashingo said success begins with small steps implemented with discipline and consistency within a short period of time.

She explained that instead of waiting for the start of a new year to make changes, it is good for everyone to ask themselves what they can do within a 12-week period to improve their health, increase their skills or bring about positive changes in their lives.

She said major changes do not take a long time as many think, but require a short period of discipline, sincere determination and consistent implementation of the goals set.

“If a person sets clear goals and manages them carefully, within a short time they can witness significant changes in their lives,” he said.

Dr. Lekashingo noted that success is not a matter of luck, but comes from discipline, personal effort and responsibility, emphasizing the importance of having clear goals and implementing them without giving up.

He urged women not to let other people decide the fate of their lives, explaining that a woman with courage and vision has the power to change not only her personal life, but also the lives of many people and even an entire generation.

He emphasized the importance of building a legacy at work, encouraging employees to ask themselves if in 10 or 20 years when the mining sector is mentioned, whether they will be remembered for their contribution to changing and developing it.

The Iftar was also attended by the Commissioners of the Mining Commission, Dr. Theresia Numbi and Engineer Theonestina Mwasha, who congratulated the women of the Commission for their love, solidarity and hard work while encouraging them to continue to put God first in everything they do.
