Air Tanzania to return home to Tanzanians stuck in Dubai

The Tanzanian airline, Air Tanzania, has announced a plan to repatriate the country’s citizens affected by the suspension of flights following the crisis that broke out in the Middle East after the United States and Israel attacked Iran and killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei last Saturday.

In a statement issued on March 6, Air Tanzania said that the special flight will travel from Dar es Salam to Dubai and return to Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

It has emphasized that the flight is not commercial and added that it will give priority to travelers who had booked tickets before the trip was canceled.

International airlines suspended flights to the Middle East since Iran began to retaliate against the US and Israel’s action against it by attacking US military bases in Arab countries in the region.

Flights in and out of Tel Aviv, Dubai, Doha and other international hubs in the region have been suspended.

The British Foreign Office is advising British citizens against all travel to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Those who are already in those areas have been advised to be careful.

Iran has carried out attacks in the Gulf states as part of retaliation for the attacks by the United States and Israel that began early Saturday.

Long-haul travel is particularly affected, with Heathrow asking travelers to confirm their journeys with their airlines.
