The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda on March 01, 2026, met and held talks with the leadership of Benjamini Mkapa Hospital led by the Director General of the Hospital Prof. Abel Makubi at the TRA offices in Dar es Salaam.
During the talks, Commissioner General Mwenda commended Benjamini Mkapa Hospital for paying taxes voluntarily and continuing to provide quality health services to Tanzanians, which shows the value of the government investing in the health sector.
He said that among the services invested by the Government through taxes and affecting many citizens are health services including Benjamini Mkapa Hospital, while making it clear that TRA is ready to assist the hospital in the treatment fund for 100 patients expected to undergo Kidney and Liver transplants for children with Sickle Cell by contributing the amount to achieve the treatment.
Commissioner General Mwenda said that Benjamini Mkapa Hospital is among the good taxpayers who have been paying taxes honestly and that TRA exists to enable all taxpayers to continue paying taxes voluntarily and to make those who do not pay taxes start paying in order to contribute to the development of the Nation and enable Tanzania to become economically independent to a large extent.
The Director of Benjamini Mkapa Hospital, Prof. Abel Makubi has commended TRA for being close to the citizens and making them see paying taxes as their responsibility, which has increased tax collections that go to help the country.
He said Benjamini Mkapa Hospital is among the beneficiaries of taxes while explaining the specialist services they provide including kidney transplants for Sickle Cell patients and kidney transplants, which has enabled those in need of these services to be treated in the country while other countries come to the country to follow these specialist services.
