Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi has joined with various believers to participate in the Ash Wednesday Service at the Catholic Church Parish of Saint Paul of the Cross Catholic Diocese of Dodoma on February 18, 2026.
The service was led by the Assistant Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Dodoma, Wilbroad Kibozi.
Delivering a sermon in the Service, Bishop Kibozi, has urged the faithful to use this period of Lent fasting, to devote themselves to the needy as well as to pray for families, youth, children and the Nation as a whole.
He has said that in this period in which believers of the Christian and Islamic religions meet together in fasting, it is good to love, respect and care for each other.
Bishop Kibozi said businessmen should be kind and generous in this period and realize that this period is not for increasing the price of food products but the prices of products should be reduced.
The Ash Wednesday service is the beginning of the Lent period which is used by Christians for fasting.
