Ruvuma: Graduates of Conservation and Tourism Studies have been asked to focus on providing quality services that focus on hospitality to visitors in order to attract more visitors and increase the contribution to the national income from the Tourism and Conservation sector.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism in charge of Tourism, Mr. Nkoba Mabula, said this during the Graduation Ceremony of the Natural Resources Conservation Training College for the Community – Likuyu
Mr. Mabula said the great work being done by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to promote Tourism in the country, has enabled the sector to contribute 21 percent of the national income and 25 percent of foreign exchange and provide employment opportunities for approximately 11 percent of all jobs in the country and therefore these efforts should be supported.
He urged the graduates to use the skills and training they have acquired to enable them to take advantage of the various employment opportunities provided by the Government so that they can become among the professionals who bring productivity to the country.
He commended the Academy for continuing to be an important pillar for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism by providing education on Community-Based Natural Resources Conservation, especially methods of dealing with aggressive and destructive wildlife to Village Wildlife Guards (VGS).
“I call on conservation agencies TANAPA, TAWA, TFS and other conservation and tourism stakeholders to continue to use these young people in their work as they have sufficient knowledge and expertise in developing Conservation and Tourism”, said Mr. Mabula
The Principal of the Academy, Mrs. Jane Nyau said that for the academic year 2024/2025, a total of one hundred and thirteen (115) students of the Tourism and Tourist Guiding course, including 64 at the Diploma level and 51 at the Diploma level, have successfully graduated from their courses today.
“Today we will also conclude the training of course No. 78/2025 with a total of 25 Village Wildlife Guards that was held for a period of three (3) months”. Added Ms. Nyau
The graduation ceremony was also attended by the Director of the Research and Training Unit, Dr. Edward Kohi, Director of the Reserve Army Coordination Unit, SAC. Fidelis Kapala, other leaders of the Ministry’s Management, various leaders and citizens.
