Religious institutions maintain peace

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Alhaj Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has said that the Government recognizes and appreciates the great contribution made by religious institutions in maintaining peace in the country.

Alhaj Dr. Mwinyi said this on January 06, 2026 when he launched the annual International Conference organized by the Fissabilillah Tabligh Markaz Community, held in Fuoni Migombani, Mjini Magharibi Region.

He informed that the Government will continue to collaborate with leaders and religious institutions to ensure that the country continues to remain in a state of peace and stability, while urging Muslim believers to understand that Islam emphasizes education, admonition and wisdom in daily life.

Alhaj Dr. Mwinyi explained that the responsibility of enjoining good is not a matter of leaving it to religious leaders alone, but is the responsibility of each one, and that believers have a responsibility to encourage each other to do good and help each other.

He urged Muslim believers to welcome the Holy Month of Ramadan by increasing their worship and fearing Allah, while urging traders to stop raising the prices of food products during Ramadan.

Earlier, Alhaj Dr. Mwinyi joined Muslim believers in the Friday Prayer service held at the Mosque.

The preacher of the Mosque, Sheikh Khamis Shaaban, urged Muslim believers to forgive each other when they have made mistakes and to live in the fear of Allah.

The International Conference was attended by sheikhs and Muslim believers from various countries in East and Central Africa.
