Sumbawanga District Commissioner, Mr. Nyakia Ally Chirukile, has urged businessmen to make estimates and pay taxes on time to contribute to national development.
Mr. Chirukile said this on January 20,2026 when he met with a team of Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) officials who arrived with the aim of introducing themselves and announcing a door-to-door tax education exercise that will begin from January 20 – 30, 2026 in Rukwa region.
Mr. Chirukile said tax payment has contributed greatly to the development of the country.
“I urge all businessmen to make tax estimates and pay taxes on time so that we can further grow the economy and development of the country”, said Mr. Chirukile.
Mr.. chirukile has urged businessmen to cooperate with the education team that will visit their business areas with the aim of providing tax education and taking feedback from businessmen, which will enable them to increase correct understanding and improve tax collection systems.
TRA Education Team Leader and Chief Public Relations Officer, Mr. Macdonald Mwakasendile said the door-to-door tax education exercise has been going on for several years and has been successful in increasing cooperation between traders and TRA as well as increasing public awareness about tax obligations.
“We urge traders to use this opportunity to receive tax education, get answers to their questions, provide feedback and advice to improve our services”, said Mr. Mwakasendile.
TRA has been conducting the door-to-door tax education exercise by visiting traders in their business areas which has increased cooperation between traders and TRA and has increased broader understanding on tax issues.
