The Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, RALGM, Prof. Riziki Shemdoe has directed every trader who will trade at the renovated and new Kariakoo Market to take out business insurance that will help them in times of disaster.
The Minister of OWMA-RALGM, said on December 24 when he visited and inspected the construction progress of the Kariakoo Market that was burned down.
While at the Market, he was satisfied with the construction of the project, where in terms of the old Market, construction is 100 percent complete and the new Market is 99 percent complete, so he commended the Regional Commissioner’s office for good management.
He has ordered that traders who were previously in the Market be given priority, frames or cages should be rented at the Market price and all contracts of traders in the market should be kept in hard and soft copies.
He said the market has been completed, the region should see a good way to launch the market officially while praising the way the cages and frames were rented in the market because traders applied through the TAUSI system.
Assistant Administrative Secretary for Infrastructure, Engineer Aman Mafuru, giving information on the construction of the market, said the old market has been renovated so far, the renovation has reached 100% and the new Soka has reached 99%, the building has 8 floors, 2 of which are lower and 6 are higher.
It has also been installed with good fire control systems and modern elevators have been installed to enable people to climb to the upper floors.
