Tanzania and the United States sat at the same table to strengthen relations

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania has held talks with the Acting Ambassador of the United States of America to Tanzania, Ambassador Andrew Lentz at Chamwino Palace and discussed important areas of cooperation and strengthening the common mission to build a modern and beneficial partnership for both parties.

Ambassador Lentz, who was accompanied by the Advisor for Political and Economic Affairs, emphasized Washington’s determination to revitalize relations and increase the depth of economic, political and security cooperation between these two nations.

“The United States is committed to building a partnership that does not depend on aid, but is built on mutual prosperity,” said Ambassador Lentz.

The talks are focused on the discussion stages of large projects led by American companies.

Both sides have agreed that the discussion of two strategic projects, the LNG Project and the Tembo Nickel Project, have reached the final stages before being officially signed.

The third investment, the Mahenge Graphite Project, is undergoing technical analysis.

President Samia has welcomed the American position and assured the delegation that Tanzania will continue to manage all the remaining steps to complete the procedures and pave the way for the implementation of the projects.

“As a non-aligned nation, Tanzania is open, ready and committed to work with all partners who respect our freedom and participate in our vision of development,” said the President.

“These projects are of great importance to the nation, and we have worked hard to complete them so that they can open jobs, investments, and sustainable prosperity for our citizens”,

The President also noted that more than 400 American companies are currently operating in Tanzania, an indicator of the stability of the country, a good investment environment and a long history of economic cooperation between the two countries.

In addition to investment, the talks have touched on broad areas of cooperation including political stability, regional security, economic reform, private sector growth, cooperation in health and experience exchange programs between the citizens of these two countries.

Ambassador Lentz has congratulated President Samia for his vision and long-term effective plans through Vision 2050, and emphasized that the United States Government is ready to support its implementation as well as strengthen the President’s 4R philosophy—reconciliation, tolerance, reform and rebuilding trust in governance.

All parties have agreed that close communication, constant cooperation, and quick steps in completing the remaining agreements are important in unlocking the full potential of the relationship between Tanzania and the United States.

This session represents an important step in redefining and revitalizing relations between Tanzania and the United States.

The joint commitment confirmed by both governments marks the beginning of a modern, open, private sector-led partnership—built on mutual prosperity, mutual respect and long-term strategic cooperation.

  1. Mahenge Graphite Project Worth 300 Million Dollars
