The Tanzania Bloggers Network (TBN) would like to provide an official clarification and make things clear following the incorrect and controversial information being circulated on social media about the meeting held this week at the State House.
TBN vehemently denies the allegations circulated by some people who call themselves activists claiming without any proof that journalists of online content were called to the State House in Dar es Salaam with the aim of “giving instructions” about the protest allegedly planned for December 09, 2025 when it is not the correct purpose of the meeting.
TBN confirms that these claims are incorrect and have been misleading.
The real purpose of the meeting was the new Director of Communications at the White House, Mr. Bakari Machumu made an official introduction to the stakeholders of the news industry starting with online content journalists.
This meeting was an important step to lay the foundation for cooperation and better communication. There was no hidden agenda or behind the scenes game. Any information circulated contrary to this fact should be treated as false and baseless.
Call for Calm and Ethics TBN is saddened by the act of distributing a short video clip of the meeting by some people, including politicians with the intention of creating controversy and scandal from the regular executive session. We emphasize the importance of developing a culture of national discussion with dignity and truth.
Acts of inventing lies and distorting information weaken the information industry and efforts to build understanding in society. TBN congratulates Mr. Machu for showing willingness to cooperate with all stakeholders of the news.
We urge him to continue his work, while we believe that transparency and stability are the best weapons against distortion.
We ask the citizens and all stakeholders to prioritize wisdom, truth and patriotism and reject any information that may cause division or stir up panic in the country.
