President Mwinyi sworn in as Zanzibar President

The President-elect of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has been officially sworn in as President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, to begin his second term of the Eighth Phase of the leadership of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.

The swearing-in ceremony of President, Dr. Mwinyi was held on November 01, 2025, at the New Amaan Complex Stadium, Mjini Magharibi Region, where the Chief Justice of Zanzibar, His Excellency Justice Khamis Ramadhan Abdallah, swore in President Dr. Mwinyi.

Dr. Mwinyi was sworn in following his landslide victory in the Zanzibar General Elections held on October 29, 2025, where he received 448,892 votes, equivalent to 74.8 percent of all valid votes.

Immediately after arriving at the stadium, President Dr. Mwinyi was welcomed with cheers and applause from thousands of citizens who flooded the Amaan Stadium, then received a salute of honor from the Defense and Security Forces and inspected the official parade organized by those forces, with 21 cannons fired in honor of the President.

The ceremonies were attended by senior national leaders from the United Republic of Tanzania and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, including the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Isdor Mpango, the Prime Minister, Mr. Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa.

Others are the First Lady of Zanzibar, Mama Mariam Mwinyi and the Retired Presidents of Zanzibar, Dr. Ali Mohamed Shein and Dr. Amani Abeid Karume.

Other leaders present were the Speaker of the House of Representatives, His Excellency Zubeir Ali Maulid, leaders of the Revolutionary Party (CCM), representatives of political parties, Ambassadors of various countries and representatives of various International Communities who attended the historic ceremonies.

President Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi officially begins his second five-year term (2025–2030) of leading Zanzibar, continuing with his mission to strengthen peace, unity, accountability and sustainable development for the people of Zanzibar.
