The pharmacy department at Muhimbili National Hospital – Mloganzila has been trained by the Tanzania Medicines and Devices Authority (TMDA) on substandard, counterfeit and unregistered drugs to continue providing quality medical services to patients.
Delivering the training, which was delivered by a TMDA trainer, pharmacist and inspector, Mr. Keddy Manga said pharmacists are required to consider the quality, safety and efficacy of the drugs they receive and dispense to patients.
The training was provided with the aim of helping hospital pharmacists identify unregistered drugs, substandard drugs and medical devices, counterfeit drugs and medical devices as well as checking the color of the drugs and the text on the label.
