The Deputy Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office-RALG in charge of Infrastructure, Engineer Rogatus Mativila has visited and inspected the construction project of the Chumbi-Kiegele road with a length of 1.2 kilometers at the asphalt level, where he expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the project.
The road is being built by TARURA in Rufiji district in Coast region with the aim of simplifying transport and transportation activities.
“The contractor who carried out this work, RAPCO CONSTRUCTION, has strived to complete the work on time, I am truly satisfied with the implementation of this project, I ask the contractor to continue working with quality and on time on other projects that he will be able to obtain from OR-RALG through TARURA”, he said
He said the Government will continue to closely supervise the implementation of the projects to ensure value for money while calling on the contractors to continue working professionally and within the scheduled time.
Giving a report on the project, the Coastal Region TARURA Manager, Engineer Ibrahim Kibasa said the project has cost 1.499 billion shillings and its implementation has reached 95 percent, while it involves the installation of rainwater drainage and 18 street lights.
“The contractor has worked hard to work well and has completed it on time, we believe it is a fellow Tanzanian who has represented us well in implementing this project that will help citizens access social services easily”, he said
The citizens have also congratulated the Government for bringing them tangible progress as the situation in the Chumbi area was bad, they were unable to transport their crops and livestock but the construction of the road will facilitate transportation, promote trade and increase access to essential services such as health and education.
