Ministry of energy performance has improved

It has been stated that the performance of the Ministry of Energy through the Institutions under its control has improved and reached 96.16% during the fourth quarter of the year 2024/2025.

This was made known during the Fifth Performance Assessment Session of the Ministry of Energy and its Institutions for the fourth quarter of the year 2024/2025 held in Dodoma and chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba.

The performance assessment conducted by the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit in the Ministry of Energy has shown that during the fourth quarter of the year 2024/2025, the performance of the Institutions under the Ministry of Energy has improved by more than 96% from 95% during the third quarter of the year 2024/2025.

Following the assessment, Engineer Mramba commended the Executives of the Ministry of Energy and its Institutions for continuing to improve performance through the implementation of projects and the provision of services to the public, which has brought positive results to the Energy Sector.

“These assessments reflect what we are implementing as services have continued to improve and improve, we as a Ministry have continued to ensure that we provide better services to the public”. said Engineer Mramba

During the session, Engineer Mramba commended the Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) for continuing to provide information to the public on time, which has led to an increase in the improvement of service delivery.

Regarding Clean Cooking Energy, he emphasized using social media to promote this energy, especially the use of low-power stoves, explaining that social media has great power to convey information to many people in a short time, the goal being to fulfill the mission of the President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to ensure that citizens move from the use of unclean cooking energy to the use of Clean Cooking Energy.

He commended the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit of the Ministry of Energy for carrying out its role effectively, while emphasizing that the Unit should be given cooperation in the implementation of its responsibilities, namely to ensure that Departments, Units and Institutions submit performance reports on time so that the unit can increase its efficiency in the evaluation work and thus improve its performance.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Dr. James Mataragio has commended all Institutions under the Ministry of Energy and Departments and Units of the Ministry of Energy for their positive performance as the performance evaluation showed that the efficiency of work has continued to improve and strengthen.

Presenting the performance evaluation report for the Ministries and Institutions, the Director of the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit, Ministry of Energy, Ms. Anita Ishengoma said that since the evaluation exercise began, it has brought efficiency especially in the implementation of various projects and plans of the Ministry as the performance of the Institutions has increased.

He said the Departments/Units that performed best in the assessment conducted in the Ministry of Energy for the fourth quarter of 2024/2025 are the Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy (first place), the Procurement Unit -(second place) and the Information Technology Unit (third place).

The institutions that performed best in performance in the assessment conducted in the fourth quarter of 2024/2025 are the Tanzania Electricity Corporation (TANESCO) – first place), the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) – second place) and the Joint Petroleum Import Agency (PBPA) – third place).

The Tanesco regions that performed best in performance in the assessment conducted in the fourth quarter of 2024/2025 are Manyara (first place), Kinondoni South (second place) and Simiyu (third place).

It was stated that the performance of TANESCO regions has generally improved as there is no region whose performance has been below 91.83%.

At the meeting, the Institutions were also able to present their performance reports.

The meeting was attended by Heads of Institutions under the Ministry, Directors of Monitoring and Evaluation Units from various Ministries, Management of the Ministry of Energy and its Institutions as well as TANESCO Regional Managers.
