The Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) conducts a detailed design of roads before construction begins with the aim of reducing or completely eliminating problems in road construction.
A project engineer from TARURA, Ms. Faizer Mbange said yesterday while providing public education to citizens who arrived at the Eighth Mining Exhibition in Geita Region.
She said that most roads in the country managed by the Agency are currently in good condition as detailed design is carried out with strict management during project implementation.
“All this is being done to ensure that the value and standards of roads are met to meet needs and get the value for money intended in the construction of infrastructure”, She said
The Senior Social Welfare Officer from TARURA Geita Region, Mr. Godfrey Vedasto has urged citizens to continue to maintain the infrastructure of roads being constructed in their areas so that they last for a long time.
He said the government is spending a lot of money on road infrastructure construction including water channels so citizens should maintain it and not do activities in road conservation areas.
“Activities in road conservation include dumping waste in water channels and therefore during the rainy season the channels fill with dirt and cause flooding”, he said
He said the floods cause water to fill people’s homes, destroy roads and cause outbreaks of various diseases.
Also, Geita resident Mr. Augustino Stephano has commended TARURA for the construction of local roads including channels as the roads are now easily passable.
He said the knowledge they gained from TARURA experts will help them in the maintenance of channels and roads and advise other citizens to cooperate with the Agency in maintaining infrastructure in their areas.
