VAT waived on Clean Energy Equipment

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, has said the Government has waived Value Added Tax (VAT) on all Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations in the country to encourage the use of natural gas in vehicles through the presence of many stations providing this service to the public.

He said the Government has also waived tax on equipment for installing gas systems on vehicles such as cars and motorcycles as a step to encourage the use of natural gas in vehicles.

Engineer Mramba made this statement on September 24, 2025 in Dar es Salaam while launching the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station of Puma Energy located on Bagamoyo road.

“The government is making these efforts to provide opportunities for Tanzanians to use gas in their vehicles by simplifying the environment for its availability and also because there is a cost reduction when using Natural Gas compared to oil”, said Engineer Mramba

He said that there are currently 11 gas filling stations in Dar es Salaam where the Government is determined that by the end of this year the number of such stations will have increased to 18 in various areas of Dar es Salaam City.

He said that the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) has already brought six vehicles that will be circulating to fill gas in vehicles in various areas.

Engineer Mramba congratulated PUMA for the construction of the station and called on various stakeholders to continue investing in these CNG stations.

“I also call on citizens and users of vehicles to be able to use natural gas as the stations have increased in the country and thus bringing services closer to our communities”. Emphasised Mha. Mramba

Puma Energy Executive Director, Ms. Fatma Abdallah said the company has built the facility to support the Government’s efforts in reforming the use of clean and safe energy in operating fire engines.
