The Minerals Commission Laboratory Services Manager, Engineer Mwarabu Mvunilwa has invited stakeholders in the country’s mining sector to use the Commission’s modern laboratory for reliable services and international standards.
Speaking in a special interview, he said the laboratory is located at the TIRDO Complex Building, Msasani – Dar es Salaam and has been serving miners, mineral traders, investors and various institutions with analytical services and professional advice.
Engineer Mvunilwa said the government laboratory is equipped with modern technology including X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) machines and fire assay furnaces that provide fast, accurate and cost-effective results.
“We provide services that meet international standards of ISO 17025. Our results are accepted locally and internationally, thus providing a basis for transparency in the mining trade,” he said.
Services provided by the laboratory include metal ore analysis using XRF, gold and silver tests using fire assay, acid digestion + AAS for base metals, gold content verification and mineral identification, and sample testing and preparation.
Other services include moisture and loss on ignition tests that enable miners to obtain accurate geological information.
According to Engineer Mvunilwa, the laboratory is run by experts in the fields of geochemistry, mining and metallurgy who provide reliable results to support economic and investment decisions.
He said these services have been a catalyst for increasing the value of minerals and government revenue through the accuracy and reliability of the information provided.
He said the laboratory’s services are not only local but are also internationally recognized and are used by clients from various countries, which strengthens Tanzania’s position in the global mining trade.
