Dar es Salaam: The Tanzania Forest Service Agency (TFS) has emerged as the standout at the 13th Annual General Meeting of the Tanzania Archives and Records Management Association (TRAMPA) after its archivists were awarded two awards by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mr. Kassim Majaliwa.
The awards are for the sponsorship of the conference and for the institution with the most participants.
The Prime Minister presented the awards on August 27, 2025 to the Senior Conservation Officer of TFS, Mrs. Josephine Solomon, at a ceremony held at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, Dar es Salaam.
The conference, which began on August 25 and is expected to conclude on August 28, 2025, brought together archivists and archivists from various public and private institutions.
The victory, it has been stated, is a result of the TFS leadership allowing for the broad participation of archivists from headquarters, regions and fields, a move that enabled the institution to be awarded the most participants.
The TFS management, led by the Commissioner for Conservation, Prof. Dos Santos Silayo, has been thanked for recognizing the role of archivists in improving the performance of the institution.
In his opening speech, the Prime Minister urged all institutions to ensure that records and information management systems are strengthened and harmonized to facilitate performance and accountability.
He also directed:-
- Employers to oversee implementation and report on the steps taken;
- Archivists to protect Government secrets and adhere to work ethics;
- Auditors to cooperate with archivists during audits;
- Information should be available on time when needed;
- Archivists should be given their rights, training opportunities and incentives at work;
- Institutions should contribute to the construction of the TRAMPA Knowledge Center to be built in Dodoma.
This year’s conference aims to improve the profession of records and documents management in the country, in line with digital transformation and promoting efficiency in the public service.
