Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has called on the staff of the Ministry of Energy and Institutions under the Ministry to be an example in the use of clean cooking energy to implement the agenda promised by the President, Dr. Samia Solution Hassan.
President, Dr. Samia is determined to encourage the use of clean and safe energy for health. The directive, issued on August 22 2025 in Dodoma while distributing less electric stoves to the Ministry of Energy and Rural Energy Agency (REA) where he has demanded that the staff be ambassadors in implementing a clean cooking energy agenda.
“Today we are distributing these stoves as you are the main responsibility for implementing the use of clean cooking energy so your responsibility is good ambassadors for the people around them so that they can be inspired to use this pure energy”, said Dr Biteko
He said following the current awareness of the public to be aware of the benefits of fresh cooking energy, the consumer rate has risen from 6% to 20.3% while the goal is to reach 80% by 2034.
Dr. Biteko said the number of people who continue to use unsafe and safe cooking energy is still high in the world, in Africa and in Tanzania so it is the responsibility of all employees of the Ministry of Energy and its institutions to ensure Tanzanians get the right education so that they can change and achieve the intended goal.
Distributing 220 stoves to Rural Energy Agency (REA) staff, Dr. Biteko has commended the institution for continuing to encourage the use of clean cooking energy especially in rural areas where there has been a challenge to reach clean and clean cooking energy.
He has also commended the REA for ensuring all 12,318 villages in the country are accessible with electricity.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba has assured him, Dr. Biteko that he will approve the order he has issued is implemented by all the institutions he manages.
He said he would make sure that the agenda of fresh cooking energy achieves the intended goals. He has urged staff to use the stoves given to them and not to keep the store.
